I’m happy to be here in Fargo as Assistant Professor of early American History at NDSU. My courses will focus on colonial and Revolutionary America, and I will also be teaching in the department’s Public History program.
Raised in Maryland, before coming to NDSU I spent six years in Chicago earning my PhD at Northwestern University. I’ve also lived at various points in Delaware and Rhode Island, so with North Dakota I now have the distinction of having lived in three of the least-populated states in the union! I’ve come to love the people and lifestyle of the Midwest, but I have to admit I still miss fresh seafood and summer days on the Chesapeake Bay. When not teaching or researching, I enjoy brewing (and consuming) craft beer, reading, playing disc golf (poorly), and binge-watching TV – feel free to stop by if you want to talk about the latest episode of The Walking Dead, VEEP, or Game of Thrones!
